Why we are going
Everything has to begin somewhere. A great waterfall begins with just one drop of water. A marathon begins with one small step forwards. This is the way of nature and the way of life. For society to change, these small steps need to start with small people. Real people like you and like me.
Life changing experiences are within our grasp each day should we choose to see them. We want to embrace each moment, each person and each view as an opportunity to learn and grow.
We are travelling to Jerusalem to gain a greater understanding of ourselves, of the Middle East and about the world in which we live. We hope that we will learn about what we can do as individuals to change our world for the better.
We wish to explore, promote and practice non-violence and address our own personal responsibility for our actions. We intend to prove to ourselves and the people we meet that we can make a difference to the world and that that difference has to begin with us. Our hope is that we will be able to connect and share with those we meet in the Middle East and to express our solidarity with all groups of society though recognising our common humanity. We will be showing support for, and working closely with, local groups who are dedicated to social change and hope to help and share our resources with these groups in any way we can.
This project is one tiny drop in a vast ocean but for those who become involved in this learning process, it is that all-important step in a direction that could change our lives forever.
We want to embrace each moment, each person and each place we visit as an opportunity to learn and grow. We want to become proactive in shaping the future of our own lives and in doing so, the future of the planet.
